What in the World?

Pierce has a new way of chewing on his pacifier...sideways! I think he mostly likes the attention we give him when he is being silly - hopefully this won't create a future as the class clown - what a silly boy!

Chuck E Cheese

What birthday would be complete without a trip to Chuck E Cheese?? Since Hayden's actual birthday was so jam packed with other fun stuff, our trip to CEC, got pushed back to a day after her birthday!
We met a few friends there which always makes it more fun!

The Birthday Girl

It's hard for us to believe that Hayden is six years old!! Her birthday was certainly one to remember!

The day started with a decorated bedroom door, breakfast in bed, and presents!Hayden and her American Girl doll are wearing matching PJ's - a gift from Grammy and Poppy Cate.No birthday would be complete without a trip to Toys R Us!

Much to Mommy's dismay, lunch was at McDonalds - birthday girl's choice.

After Hayden's afternoon class, we took her to get her ears pierced - she was all smiles before.....and after....whew - no tears!!

The evening ended with more gifts and cake.
Pierce even got into the celebrating mood - Happy Birthday Hayden!

Grammy in Town

Gavin's Mom Marylou (AKA "Grammy") came to town for a visit and to help us celebrate both Hayden and Pierce's birthday.

Hayden's First Day of School

With a birthday party and Grammy Cate visiting, the first day of school excitement was a little overshadowed by all the other fun stuff happening. Hayden officially started Kindergarten. This year she is attending a charter school two afternoons a week and being home schooled the other days. So far she is loving it and making new friends!

Hayden's Birthday Party

For Hayden's party, we decided to have it at a local park. She and Rowan got to buy their own "party outfits". It was quite a bash! Can you tell Rowan is into Dora these days?? The worst part is that her shirt blinks red lights....eeks - so tacky! Whose ideas was it to let them choose their own clothes??We first had dinner - pizza, grapes, and veggies - yum!

The pinata was next, and it worked like a charm - each kid had a turn, and then the oldest child slammed it and candy sprinkled out everywhere.
I can't believe we are up to 6 candles on the cake!

I know what she wished for...more Hannah Montana stuff!
Pierce LOVED the cake - thanks to Aunt Jocelyn for being his official feeder.
The party was so much fun, and it was fully complete with Rowan taking a "header" on the concrete - ouch! - one kid pooping on the playground (potty-training oops!), and another friend puking (too much cake and swinging)...aahh....kids, they keep life exciting!!

A Night on the Town

Our dear friends Traci and Dawn were here in San Diego from Indy , and we were so thrilled to spend an evening with them. We rarely go to downtown San Diego, so it was exciting for us to explore the "touristy" spots with them.
We took a water taxi over to Coronado - definitely a first for both Gavin and me.We ate at a wonderful restaurant...Traci's meal only had eyes for her!
Behind us you'll see the San Diego skyline - what a great view!
We rode the ferry back downtown and then hung out a bit more before saying goodbye.

First Haircut

Pierce's hair is getting out of control, so before we take him for a big boy haircut, we thought we could give it a little trim at home.
Billy Idol ain't got nothing on Pierce!!
Snip! Snip!
Aaahhh - much better - he's one handsome guy!!

Firefighters to the Rescue

The girls and I read some firefighter books and made a yummy firefighter ladder snack with graham crackers, icing and pretzels.
